my new favorite quote

"Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air - explode softly - and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth - boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn't go cheap, either - not little boxes of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination." ~Robert Fulghum

happy things: september

i thought i would start a new challenge for myself this month. although i do love fall i am a little sad that summer is gone (and did it went by extra fast this year?). so as a little helper i am going to find everyday things that makes me happy during september.
i´ll start with this note i got from my daughter. i got it from her the other night when i had comforted her after she had been sad about some boy at school. we had a cozy time on the floor, her in my lap and me hugging and kissing her tears away. the note says: i am happy you made me
first i thought that she forgot to put a word like happy or better or something behind that sentence, but it turns out she is happy that i made her, period! i love that!

i ♥ photos, the beach and crafts!

yesterday afternoon i just felt the beach calling my name, so i took my gang aka daughter and the 2 dogs for a spin.

we took a good long stroll down the sandy beach searching for stones, feathers and other treasures.

just above the shore i spotted this wonderful field that i just had to capture. i asked my daughter to take some photos of me...but then...

dixon the streaker came through :)

i love my copy of amanda soules new book handmade home. i has lot´s of lovely, simple and really handy projects. i started slowly with some easy potholders and then i made some new fall hats for my neices and my newphew. i have some more to make since my girl really wanted one too!

i might try a few other projects this weekend. otherwise i am planning ahead and thinking of what i´ll make for Christmas presents this year...and i have some layout shares too.

pre-valentine post #1

ok, so i am a big romantic, but i live with a husband that thinks i am high maintenance, which i have proven time and time again that i am not! i was almost teary eyed last year when i acctually bought this lovely. small, small everyday things...i have a project for this, but that is another post ;)

this post is a pre-valentine give away kinda post :) in a previous post i quickly mentioned a little love-giveaway if anyone noticed! with the larger scraps of paper i was talking about in mentioned post, i have made small valentine booklets for you! last year i made a type of these (scroll down a bit) it was a simple little book were i stated a few reasons i love my husband and my daughter. simple things like: his hugs, her smile etc. so, for the giveaway i made two little books where i have embellished the front and the left side of the spreads and you can add your journaling on the right side.

here are some of the pages inside the books.

the game is easy; just leave a comment and add a link to a cute valentine project and i will draw two of you by the weekend!

blue & scrapping shares

mindi took photos of anything blue the other day and it trigged me to do the same. here is what i found around the house.

1.our bathroom rug. 2.the loved computer. 3.my daughters love note on the fridge. 4.IFK-is the team around here. 5.some of my yarn. 6.my lonely sewing machine. 7.the book i just finished. 8.our salt shaker! 9.our everyday plates.

this was fun! go try!

i have a few new scrapbooking shares for you :)

the story: my daughter is taking riding lessons and they allow the kids to be around in the stables for a while before the lessons. this is a very happy thing for her! she loves to be there (although she was thrown off last time yikes!). last time we took a picnik with us and had such a lovely time.

the goods: i wanted to use "white space" on this one, so i printed the photos alittle smaller than i usually do. and, people, i am so bad at adding those little details nowadays! it makes me so frustrated! it doesn´t come naturally for me anymore! why is that? anyway i am in love with anything scalloped these days so i used a mini one here :)

the story: i wanted to make something using my "word" for the year; play.

the goods: i had to use carina gardners digi kit calender cards i bought at 2peas. i love these cards! this page didn´t come out anything like i was planning :) i wanted to use the map for some reason, but i think that this makes the page look "2 paged" like they don´t belong together...oh, well!

the story: my daughter is a rockstar! she loves to sing and dance. and the singstar is the best right now! she put on such shows, i tell you :)

the goods:. My Minds Eye`s die cut was just perfect for this and so was that scenic route die. that awsome journaling tag was sent to me by karine! i love them, karine!

the story: politics is nothing for me, i find it confusing, but i know that what we need is peace, now! everywhere, for you, for me, for them, for us!

the goods: super simple, but i have never measured so much on a page before haha! i printed the peace on my computer (it is the font diesel from here.)i like the print out :) the other peace is rub-ons from a big pack of alphabet rub-ons from creative café.

ok, that is it for today! have a lovely day!

celebrations and a giveaway!

last night our daughters school celebrated 40 years and they had a party and open house. they had picked out quite a few older items, such as photoalbums and old technology. the school has 2 new active boards and they are very much used!

the kids had a spectacular show and our daughter sang a short solo in english :)

i wore my new dress that i love!

i am in a giving mood, as i am quite often :) so in a kelli crowe">/a> spirit Happy first TOSGA! That means: Thursday Old Stuff Give Away!

Monday, December 08, 2008

i have been enjoying to make stuff in my december journal! it is fun to just add stuff here and there whenever i feel like it. yesterday i made an entry about making christmas candy (yum!) and i thought i´d share a quick how-to for you all:

1 dl cream
1 dl baking syrup
1 dl sugar
0,5 dl almonds
butter or margarine
tiny paper baking tins

put out your tiny paper baking tins on a tray (about 30-40 of them). Mix the cream, baking syrup and suger in a container that you can later heat up in the microwave. Run the micro for 5 minutes on full effect. Chop the almonds in the meantime. Take the container out of the mirco and stir. Then run the microwave for 4 more minutes. Mix in the almonds and then quickly pour the mixture into the baking tins.
I use to put the tray in the fridge for a while so that the candies get hard.

oh, and i am sorry mindi, this is nothing for you right now ;)

Ps. i am very very sorry about the crappy photos!

just a quick note to let you know that i am still here. i was just away for the weekend and had a day of today so i have been shopping crafting supplies for my weekend projects and i can´t wait to begin! while i was a away we visited an indoor playland! the concept is so simple but yet so very much fun. they have a big big room (5000 m2) filled with a huge thing where the kids climb, slide, crawl and well you get the picture

and i must say; it is amazing how a sea of small, plastic, colorful balls can change your mood :)

we had a blast!

something to be happy about...

i saw this cute little add about that there is always something to celebrate. Their examples were the hamster turning 2, the carpenters being on time etc :) it got me thinking...i think that there is always something to be happy about even on a crappy day.

1. the dishwasher is already set and going.
2. lounging around in my pyjamas.
3. nutella in the cupboard.
4. outside hanging laundry.
5. sadie sleeping in.
6. new craty ideas.

I love my job! I really do! If you don´t know, I am a kindergarden teacher and work with kids in the ages between 1-3. Everyday I get to hold hands, give and get hugs, see the amazement in their eyes, make them laugh...and everyday I get a happy loud Hi, Elisabet! when I walk through the door. How many people get that when they walk into their workplace?! I love it so much and look forward to every single day when I get to be there.

I was a little worried making a layout about Dickson already, because last time I made a layout about a new family member we ended up taking him back to the shelter...But I am hoping for the best this time!

Today i don´t start work until 11 and will be outside the whole afternoon in the sun! Then I will be heading home to do some serious laundry since dear husband is going to Berlin, Germany on wednsday, daughter is heading to her grandmas and myself on a worktrip to the islands outside Gothenburg.
