my 2010 word...

for my word for this year i have chosen commit:

commit

2: give entirely to a specific person, activity, or cause; "She
committed herself to the work of God"; "give one's talents
to a good cause" [syn: give, dedicate, devote]

i have felt decentered and unfocused for a long time now and tried my hardest to get several things done at the same time...i have had such problems with being in the moment, not letting my mind wander. thinking of the things i am doing next. so, this year i want to focus and commit myself to one thing, person or activity at the time. this is something i have been struggling with for so many years and it feels good to have it on print!

do you have a word for the year?

ps. if you don´t know what i am talking about :) you can go to ali edwards blog to get the background!

scrapbook with free digital stuff

when describing myself as a scrapbooker, i often say that i am very much a hybrid one. i love to take digital elements to my pages either by doing some of my scrapbooking in a photoediting program or by printing digital elements from a digital kit for example.

i have one favorite source of free digital goods is designer digitals if you sign up for their newsletter your inbox will be filled with 3 new freebies every sunday! and i must say that they have alot of good offers and good prices too!

sometimes i download a template that i use as is, just adding my photos.

or use a png. embellishment as a fun way to show a photo.

make elements for my blog.

i use digital elements on my photos that i print and use on a paper page.

oh, and 2peas has lots of free digital kits and templates! i often download them and even if i don´t like all the things in the kit there is always something you can use.

there you have it, another tip for you!

eta: to be able to use digital kits you will have to have a photo editingprogram of some sort installed on your computer. though, there are sometimes jpg. elements in the kits that can be used to print in a WORD document.

scrapbooking made easy with photo mosaics

when i came home fromm our trip to holland i wanted to scrapbook, but i had soo many photos (as usual), so i created different mosaics over at bighugelabs.com. and it makes for such an easy way to make a page with lots of photos. just look:

when the mosaic is loaded, i jst saved it to my computer and opened them into a WORD document and printed them out on my printer.

i then embellished my page as i wanted it and voila, lots and lots of moments scrapbooked at once!

and a way of mosiacs is to use smaller versions of photos in the same size, like so;

so, there you have alittle tip from me to ring in the new year!

recap: my word for 2009

my word for 2009 has been: be and i think that i have done just that, been. and what is that exactly? well, for me that has been to relax, take the days as it comes, play, loosen up, do what makes me happy, choose to be with family over doing housework. and i have done that, althought i might have to work on the household stuff!

Example 1: we stayed home during summervacaton this year and it was glorious! during these weeks we all took the day as it came, no big plans. happiness was to be able to relax, read, do gardenwork and eat a nice supper each night. we were so relaxed and rested, that it actually felt nice to go back to work!

example 2: my garden has given me so much joy this past year. i have really worked hard to keep it nice and beautiful and even dug a new flower bed all by myself! and with great content i have watched a piece of land/dirt come to life as seeds have grown into great life. and the harvest we could do was something else! pure joy was what it was!

example 3: doing stuff that makes me happy! i have done alot of crafting; scrapbooking, needlework, sewing and housedecor stuff!

this has been such a good year, full of laughter, joy, happiness and love. i just wonder how next year will be and what it will bring us!
